A Piggy for Your Friday

As if butter isn't totally awesome on its own, how fun would it be to eat it out of this little piggy?

By Jonathan Adler

This piggy brightened my Friday and I hope he brightens yours.

Party Down

A few weeks ago, Andy introduced me to a show called Party Down.  I got totally hooked.  Have you seen it?  It's hilarious!  It's about a group of struggling actors and writers who cater wild parties filled with total wackos.  The cast is great, too.  I found out later that Paul Rudd was one of the show's creators - no wonder it tickled my funny bone.  Best part?  It's all on Netflix :)

To sweeten your Monday

A cake rolled in Reese's cups?! Are you kidding me?! Unbelievable. I would want to eat a slice right now if it weren't 100 degrees out. I'll opt for a popsicle today but you can be sure I'll keep this in my mind at all times for future birthdays and holidays. Or maybe we could celebrate Cake Day once a year like these guys.

Want to make this cake yourself? You can find the recipe here.

Hope your Monday is now a little sweeter! XO

Currently craving...

...this Industrial Task Table Lamp from West Elm. I would love it in the color Tumeric. Wouldn't mind it in True Red either. For late-night reading. Or nail painting. Or something like that.

J.Crew Swim Sale

For a few days over at JCrew.com, you can treat yourself to 20% off all swimsuits and free shipping. I know I'm going to take advantage of it. I need a pick-me-up with all this rain :)

I'm thinking of getting this one:

I hope it's a little less rainy and gloomy wherever you are. And thanks to the lovely Jenn for telling me about the sale!

It's Royal Wedding Time!

It's almost here!  The Royal Wedding, that is (and my sister's birthday...go wish her a happy birthday here tomorrow!).  I haven't been paying much attention to all the wedding fuss, but over the past couple days I have been kind of nerding out about it.

Although neither Liz nor I are getting up at the crack of dawn to watch it unfold live, we do know many people who are throwing Royal Wedding brunches at 5am tomorrow!  If we were to have one, here's what we'd provide for our guests:

Coffee.  And tea, to be more British.  But at that hour...coffee.

Scones, crumpets, biscuits.  These are yummy!

Chic birdcage veils for the ladies (like the one seen here)...

...and dapper bow ties for the men (if any came).

And finally, royal wedding sick bags for those who can't wait for the media frenzy to end!

I want to ride my bicycle

Well, really, I want to ride the new Kate Spade bicycle. Kate Spade just came out with this awesome green bicycle. There is only one available in each Kate Spade store. I can't even imagine how much it costs, but a girl can dream, right? I mean, how awesome is this bike?!

Wouldn't mind buying those leather bags for the front and the back too...

Saturday Afternoon

It was a great Saturday. Birthday brunch for Lisa at Meridian Pint, long walk through Adams Morgan, and a quick stop at a beautiful flower shop.

If you live in the DC area and you are looking for tasteful and affordable flowers, I'd recommend you stop by A Little Shop of Flowers. It's a fun experience, the store smells totally awesome, the staff is super friendly, and you leave with something beautiful.

Looking for Cheap Designer Shoes?

Meet Jessie, a shoe-lover and our first guest blogger!

Before I met Anna and Liz, I knew nothing of the online shopping world.  Every piece of clothing or accessory I owned was store-found and bought.  I remember our Sophomore year walking in on the two of them, hovered around Liz's desk, gawking at Frye boots online.  My life hasn't been the same since.  Now I can safely say I spend 75% of my free time perusing store websites, sifting through online blogs and making aimless wish-lists.  I can even proudly admit that I have a username and login at Kleinfeld's Bridal.  And no, I am not planning to marry anytime soon.

So, I found myself participating in one of my favorite online activities--searching for shoes on Piperlime.  I have never purchased a pair of shoes from this website (read: bank account LOW) but this particular day I fell in love.  This love was true and real and I couldn't say no to it.
This simple shoe by Seychelles had my heart beating until I looked at the price.  Let's just say it was far beyond my price range and it was a poor decision on my part to even tempt myself.  But as the day went on, I couldn't get her out of my mind.  In a desperate attempt, I used the skills Anna and Liz instilled me with, and I googled the shoe name, size and color to see if someone offered it for less and LO AND BEHOLD I discovered 6PM.

This website offered my beloved shoes for 40% the original cost.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  Two quick clicks and they were mine.  Why stop there?  For 40% off, I purchased the grey Tretorn rain boots that Anna unknowingly blogged about just a couple days later.  I spent the rest of the afternoon browsing hundreds of brand-name shoes at 50-60% the original sale price.  You have to see this to believe it.  Go! GO NOW!

Valentines

How nice would this color look...

I actually like these shoes best in the cobblestone color, and Anna likes them in black, but red seems more appropriate this time of year :)

Simple Sewing

Happy Sunday!  What have you been up to this weekend?  We've been having lazy mornings and productive afternoons in Portland.  I rediscovered my love of Grey's Anatomy, after a three year hiatus, and am getting wrapped up in the drama once more.  I've also justified my multiple-episode-mornings by convincing myself that watching medical dramas is one way of preparing to one day be a clinician myself (heh heh).

Aside from catching up on the Izzie-George drama of Season 6, I also had a chance to take my brand new sewing machine for a test run.  I got this model for Christmas, and so far it is awesome!  My first project is a set of napkins (I'm starting slow here), and I've been using my all-time favorite sewing book for guidance:  Simple Sewing, by Lotta Jansdotter.

All of her patterns are quick and easy, but also very cute and functional.  I love this gardening tote!

Father Daughter Duo

A pick-me-up video for the day. We already love the song Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and this is even cuter. Thanks to housemate Cait for sending me this as a pick-me-up yesterday :)

Guilty Pleasures

The holidays are a time for indulging, right?!

Duh.

Especially hilarious since my brother-in-law knows every. single. word.

(don't tell my boyfriend)

Only recently acquired the CD; the family copy is on tape!

Just plain awesome.  And not only for December listening.  (Well, except for a few songs.)

What are you listening to?

P.S. Try this for something more sophisticated:
