Happy Galentine's Day

According to Leslie Knope, today is Galentine's Day.  Oh, you're not familiar?

It's kind of an awesome idea.

December!

Happy December!  I can't believe the holiday season is almost here.  Is it just me or were we just wearing shorts and going to the beach?!

To get into the spirit, Andy and I went and got a teeny tiny Christmas tree last weekend.  This evening we're celebrating December's arrival by sitting by our beautiful little tree, watching a movie, and drinking Shipyard Prelude.

Next week is my last week of classes (!!!!!) and then I'll be going into full Christmas mode.  I'll be sure to share some cute holiday ideas here!

P.S. See of Love turns 1 this month!

And finally, we are so incredibly thankful for all of our lovely readers :) You make us very happy and we are thankful for you every day.

What are you thankful for? We hope you have a family- and food-filled Thanksgiving. xo

Hot hot heat

Hello there!  Can you believe it's July already?  It is finally starting to feel like summer in Maine and it has been hot, hot, hot this week!  While I've been chowing down on popsicles and watermelon and holing up with my textbooks, Liz has been in HONDURAS!  I'm sure she'll share some pictures when she gets home, but for now I'll share some pics of what I've been up to.  Andy got me an iPod touch for my birthday and I've been going a little nuts with some of the camera apps. :)

Since we last spoke, I've been...

...playing dress up with Fishy...
...taking walks on Mackworth Island...
...admiring the hydrangeas...
...taking foggy ferry rides...
...exploring the Hamptons...
...watching thunder storms roll over Portland...
...surviving school with iced coffee and watermelon.

To fulfill that guilty pleasure, a subscription to People magazine.

Or, if you're looking for something simple that you know she'll love, a beautiful bouquet always does the trick.

A Few Things...

I hope that everyone had a lovely Easter Sunday if you celebrated it! I spent my Easter Sunday hanging out with cousins in the morning and taking a long walk in the evening. It was 80 degrees and sunny. Perfect. On my walk, I spotted this great pair of chairs at a second-hand furniture store on 14th Street NW. Very retro and comfortable. $300 for the pair. Do you think that's a good deal or not? I couldn't decide.

Anyways, let's get to the more important memo of the day: Today is the day that EASTER CANDY GOES ON SALE!! I will be stopping by the drug store to snatch up some chocolate Cadberry candy eggs and some Robin eggs. What is your favorite Easter candy?

Happy Monday! (Ugh.)

Elijah is coming!

Ok, so Elijah isn't exactly the most comparable thing to a bunny, but you get the point. It's Passover this week for those who celebrate it, and I'm here to share some of my favorite Passover foods. Sometimes I think of Passover as a type of spring cleaning - my meals during this week every year consist of lots of vegetables and yogurt and healthy stuff. That is, until I re-discover the meat and candy below :)

I'd love to gobble up some of this tangy, spiced brisket.

And then munch on some matzo crunch (kudos to Heather for making a mean batch on Monday).

If you take the ham out of Anna's Easter fritatta, you're good to go for Passover too! Enjoy whatever holiday you do or do not celebrate :)

Marathon Monday!

Happy Marathon Monday!  Sadly, I am at work today (first time ever that I haven't had it off!), but Liz is in Boston enjoying the festivities.  Here are some pics from last year:

The scene at mile 9, where Tufts has a bbq to cheer on the runners

The scene along Boylston, right before the finish line!
You can track the runners' progress at boston.com.  They should be finishing up soon!

New Years Resolutions, Part 1

Happy 2011!  I can't believe 2010 has come and gone.  It was a big year for us at See of Love.  We graduated and were thrown out into the "real world;" we moved to new cities and started new jobs!

Here in Portland, the year started with a very quiet bang.  New Years Day was spent almost entirely in bed, watching episodes of The Office (isn't that how January 1 should always be?!).  Despite the slow start, I'm thinking 2011 is going to be a good one.  I was planning on making a list of my resolutions, but really I think I'm just going to do this:

Get Excited And Make Things
This year I will: exercise my creative side.  explore my city.  read more books.  take more pictures.  be healthy and happy.
What will you do?

xoxo, anna

And a Happy New Year!

To all our readers,

We hope that your 2011 is even more wonderful than your 2010. May the new year bring lots of exciting experiences, meaningful relationships, delicious food, and fun travels! And may you always be healthy and happy! (It's corny, but we mean it!)

HAPPY 2011! Go out and celebrate!

Homeward Bound

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Whatever! I didn’t grow up celebrating Christmas, but I do love the festivities. Yesterday while riding the Metro to work, a grown man (I would say mid-50s) in a long black peacoat started singing Silent Night at the top of his lungs. He didn’t have the best voice, but I loved his spirit! In fact, it put me in a good mood for the past two days.

The other reason as to why I am in a good mood: In about an hour and a half, I will be soaring through the clouds on my way home to Massachusetts for the holidays. I usually like to sit in the front of the plane so that I can get off first, but I was warned that overhead space goes quickly during the holiday season, and I should sit in the middle of the plane to reserve a nice spot for my WONDERFUL bag. By Jane Marvel. Best weekender bag on this planet. Get one for yourself.

Lots of Love,

Liz
